Like a Fairy Tale…Soriano nel Cimino

I introduce you Soriano nel Cimino.
Here is where I grew up, a small hill village close to Viterbo and Rome, in the heart of Tuscia.
A small village rich in history, populated since the time of the Roman Empire, after with Longobardi, subsequently donated by these to the Papacy. The most important period for Soriano nel Cimino was when it became a possession of the powerful Orsini family from 1278 to 1366.The fortress, was enlarged several times until Pope Nicholas III did build the imposing Castle that today we can all to admire, with the medieval centre called La Rocca.

Descending into te lower part of the village through enchanting and ancient alleys, we can admire the beautiful and Renaissance Palazzo Chigi Albani.

Soriano nel Cimino is surrounded by beautiful woods that have been spectators for many battles. Behind the village rises the Vetusta Faggeta dei Monti Cimini, become a Natural Heritage of UNESCO on 7th of July 2017.
A wonderful green oasi, which changes colours and scents every season. the tall and centuries-old beech trees, the oldest in Europe, have now passe the tower on the top of the mountain….. I always imagined that there was a beautiful princes imprisoned who, at nightfall, she freed herself and started dancing with all the magical creatures of the forest.

A jump into a enchanted place where every corner could tell thousands of memories and events. The best time to visit where I grew up is October during the Sagra delle Castagne ….. even better with me!

For eating I recommend :
- Il Carolino Tratto’
- Ristorante Baita La Faggeta
- Ristorante Rottezzia
- Ristorante Ai Tre Scalini
- La cantina del Gusto

I lived in beautiful Ascoli Piceno for 12 months when I was 8 years old (many moons ago!) and it has left an indelible mark on me. I’ve been back a few times since then and more recently took my husband there who instantly fell in love with its spectacular scenery and it’s rich cultural history. We are yearning to go back again as soon as the borders re-open. Loving your Instagram page.
Thank you for message! I can’t wait to go back in Italy!
